4 Best-Smelling Herbs Humans Can’t Resist

It has long been known that aromatherapy can improve people’s moods. It makes sense, then, that by ensuring you make your home smell as good as possible at all times, you will feel great when you’re there. You’ll feel comfortable and relaxed and able to enjoy your own place.

If you want to use aromatherapy in your home, it’s a good idea to learn more about the herbs you might want to include. After all, if good-smelling things make you feel good, it generally means that bad-smelling things will make you feel bad. You’ll want to get it right. With that in mind, here are some of the best-smelling herbs you could use in your home to create the right atmosphere.

Artemisia (Wormwood)

Although the name – ‘wormwood’ – might not be very pleasant, the smell that this plant produces certainly is, so don’t be put off. The great thing about wormwood is that it is so easy to grow, so you could grow your own if you wanted to. Otherwise, it’s readily available in stores and online.

You can use a dry herb vaporizer to enjoy wormwood’s warming, comforting scent, and this is a popular choice.

Mint

Even if you’ve never tried aromatherapy before, you’ll have smelled the wonderfully refreshing odor of mint, and you’ll be able to recall it to mind whenever you want to. You do need to be careful with how much you use when you opt for this plant for your aromatherapy, as it can be rather strong and overpowering. However, when you get things just right, it’s a gorgeous scent that is fresh and vibrant and can, so they say, help with memory and concentration.

Perhaps surprisingly, there are many different mint types, and all are slightly different. They include:

  • Peppermint (the most common)
  • Spearmint
  • Apple mint
  • Lemon balm
  • Egyptian mint
  • Banana mint

Even if the traditional smell of mint is not something you like, there is sure to be a variation that suits you, so it’s worth investigating further.

Rosemary

You would probably never know it just by look or smell, but rosemary is actually another part of the mint family. Whether you like mint or not, it’s highly likely that you enjoy the smell of rosemary, which is warming and comforting.

Rosemary is best known for adding to lamb dishes to enhance the flavor. It is an ideal aromatherapy option, too, especially if you’re looking for something to enhance your memory and help you focus. It can also be used for stress relief.

Lavender

The beauty of lavender is that it gives off a powerful scent, but that scent is not overpowering. It’s not too floral, which can be cloying and unpleasant, but neither is it too woody, which isn’t always something people want for their homes. Lavender lies somewhere in between, and humans have loved the scent for thousands of years.

Lavender is used in all kinds of products, from sleep aids to dessert, and the gorgeous smell that goes along with it is unmistakable and wonderful.
